The Week of Check-Ups

I have been told that I needed to update my blog, so here I go. I don't have any funny stories or cute pics of Ave to post right now so I apologize in advance if it puts you to sleep!
The past couple of weeks has included a horrible winter storm, we got 18 inches, YES 18 inches of Snow here in Draper. I have never seen anything like it in all my Texas years..hehe! It really is beautiful but a mess to be in and about. Today we had another blizzard like storm come through..you could hardly see the house behind us it was so heavy. So needless to say Ave and I have been pretty much stuck in the house except for ALL the doctors appts. Two Fridays ago Ave started to get what sounded like Croup. I have never heard that barky seal like cough until then. I felt so bad for her. We did the normal vapor bath, humidifier, decongestants and lots of love, but she wasn't getting much better. Luckily Monday was when the storm hit and Brian was attempting to get to work when it took him over an hour to drive about oh 5 miles when he decided to just run around and take a snow day, so we ended up taking her into her pediatrician. Knock on wood Avery has never had an ear infection but she was really messing with her ears and we wanted to get it checked out just in case. The pediatricians office is just around the corner, it took longer to get the car out of the drive way then it did to get to the office! Avery turns out didn't have an ear infection, just a nasty cold that would take a while to go a way. She finally has stopped her coughing for the most part, but still has a lot of snot, where it is all coming from I have no idea! Then two days later I had to take her back for her 18 month check up. The office was all to familiar with her and she was not as cooperative as she was for the doctor previously. But she weighs in at a whopping 23.8 lbs (50%) and is 34 inches long! (97%). She is a long baby. She got two shots and mommy got a really fussy baby in return for the day. Later that afternoon off to American Fork for my OB appt. 32 week check-up went well, lost a pound, don't know how that happened, but I am not complaining. So it looks like we are on the downhill slope of this pregnancy which I am excited for..not really excited to juggle the two baby thing, but ready to be not pregnant! We still haven't decided on a name..ugh!
On another note, I just finished my week long love affair with Dryer's Samoa Girl Scout Cookie Ice Cream. Let me tell you it was worth every last calorie..go out and buy some today..it is soooo worth it..Next on my list is the Tagalong flavor..Can you tell I am craving ice cream:)!

Our little girl is growing up! She turned 18 months on Friday! You know what that means in LDS talk...NURSERY! Church time changed for us to 11 which is horrible bc its right in the middle of nap and lunch time so she was pretty cranky during sacrament so of course I was nervous about dropping her off. We took her in and she went straight to one of the teachers and started playing with a doll on the floor and never looked back, no tears, no wave good-bye, a big fat nada for her mommy and daddy! :( She made it all the way through nursery without having to pull us out of class...take notes Rex:)! The nursery worker said she did really well, that she is a strong girl...which I take to mean strong personality, and that she didn't cry once! Then she tells us, "well, she did hit a little boy who is a little taller than her, but we talked about it and its ok, she did really good!"...UGH! I am that mother of a child who hit another kid. My defensive motherly side thinks, well I am sure he got in her personal space, stole a toy from her, or he must of bit/hit her when the teacher wasn't looking...Probably not, she was probably just voicing her opinion about how she felt towards him!! Hopefully she doesn't become banished from nursery, I don't know what I would do then.

Lions and Tigers and Bears!

Saturday Brian, Avery and I went to the Hoogle Zoo in SLC. Ty and Holly got us a membership to the zoo for Christmas. What a great gift, thanks Ty and Holly!! We have never lived close to a city that had a zoo, so this was Avery's first time to a "real" zoo. The weather was perfect, in the 40's and the sun was shinning and wasn't crowded. We had a great time. Avery called every thing "ish" which is her word for fish, it was too funny. There were some exhibits that were closed for winter but overall we really got to see a lot of different animals. The bears weren't in their outside area so we figured they were just inside out of the cold. Well today during sacrament meeting Brian out of nowhere leans over and says to me, "I bet the bears were hibernating for winter so that's why they weren't outside." He was so serious too, I couldn't help but laugh, I am sure he had been thinking about it for the rest of the afternoon yesterday and all of this morning!! He is so funny.

Our baby needs a name!

Brian and I are having the hardest time finding/agreeing on a name for our second daughter. It seems like I will like a name and then a couple of weeks go by and I am not as fond of it as I was earlier. We need help!! So here are the names we like or are questionable. Tell us what you think, which you like, which ones you don't like and ones that we don't have on our list that we might like! So those that just read, this time leave a comment with your thoughts!

Audrey---is it too close to Avery?
Addison---is it too common, I love it, but I also don't want her to be the 5th Addison in her class!
Delaney---I like this name, Brian not so much...nickname Laney.
Reagan---again is it becoming too common?
Brianna---Brian really likes this bc it has his name in it too
Emerson---I like this name and Brian thinks its too boyish, not too common, nickname Eme

So those are the ones we have so far---what do you think?

Don't I Look Pretty!

Avery loves playing with mommy's makeup. That is eyeliner all over her face!! I couldn't resist getting a picture of our little mess, look at how she cheeses for the camera.

In other news I have STREP throat. I have been sick with a sore throat for a couple of days and yesterday I thought I was going to die! My sweet and loving husband left work and took me to the doctor where they did a rapid strep test and to my good fortune was positive. Hopefully I don't pass on such a fun sickness to anyone else. Brian I think would rather work a 60 hour work week then put up with a sick and whiny pregnant wife! He took great care of Ave and I while I spent the afternoon on the couch. I think he was actually excited to go back to work this morning!! I would almost trade having strep for dysentery...not being able to swallow your own spit is miserable. The nice med asst at the doctor said with a smile that I would start feeling better within 48 hours, so until then I guess I will do what...die from the pain and misery! Remind me next time to get Strep when I am not pregnant so I can overdose on pain meds!

Avery trying to take out Brynn's hair clippie! She's a hater to those babies with hair!
Grandma Hopkins and Uncle Ty at Great Grandparents House in Ogden

Avery still trying to get that darn clip out of Brynn's hair. Isn't she the cutest little baby.

Avery giving her little cousin kisses. She loves Brynn!

Grandpa Hopkins being read to by Avery!

Little Brynn, the happiest baby around!
We had a great Christmas holiday. My parents along with Zoe came up from Texas. It was so great to be able to spend the week with them and it was really hard to see them go. Kaylee kept asking if Grandma Precious was going to come back tomorrow, they were so sad to see them go. I wish I would of gotten more pics during the week, but for some reason this is all I got.

Avery got a Little Mommy doll from Santa. She is so cute with her, giving her kisses and hugs and occassional biting on the toes! The doll even smells like baby powder.

Grandpa and Grandma Johnson got the grandkids little red leather couch and chair for them to sit on. Avery thought she was big stuff!
