I am a murderer:(
Yesterday Avery and I had a play date with a friend in Huntsville and on my way back home a little cat ran out in front of my car! I was going 60 on a two lane street and had my baby in the back seat and the cat ran out of nowhere. I couldn't risk swerving to miss it and do more damage and to my horror I heard the THUMP! In the rear view mirror I could see the cat lying in the road motionless. I have NEVER ever run over an house pet...ie cat, dog. I have run over armadillo, skunks and squirrels but not someone's PET. I didn't know what to do, I didn't know if I should of stopped. I would be the type of person to load the animal in my car and take it somewhere for help, but shame on me...I kept on driving! I feel horrible about my decision, was I wrong? Should I have stopped, could I have done something to save the cat? Is there a little girl crying tonight because her seeing eye cat is dead? I feel so guilty dang it! My husband and family's comments went something like this...."At least it wasn't a human, At least it wasn't a dog, I am going to call Animal cruelty on you and report the murder, Oh your going to hell now!" I now belong to the club of other accidental animal killers.

Rolling....

After the last posts talking about how all I wanted was to be a Super mom in the eyes of my daughter.....well yesterday changed all of that! We usually will put Avery in the bend of the couch if we are holding her and need to jump up and do or grab something. I jumped up to make a bottle for her, which you really need two hands to do with these Playtex Air Vent bottles (too many attachments), so I put her in the bend of the couch which we have done countless of times before. She was her normal fussy when she gets hungry, no change in tone or volume of fussiness and when I got back to the living room (right next to the kitchen) she wasn't on the couch!! To my horror she was lying on her back under the coffee table! She had either pushed herself across the couch or rolled off the couch on to the floor. When I picked her up, thinking I had just ruined and damaged the most precious thing in the world to me, she giggled and cooed at me. She was so content eating her bottle as I was inspecting her head and body for bumps and bruises and the nurse in me in my mind was playing the phone call to her daddy on the way to the ER. But to my delight she was bump and bruise free! She was her happy smiling self! What a blessing!
The above picture is of Avery in her Wyoming onesie that Brian's dad got her. Brian was raised in Wyoming before moving to Texas a few years ago, he says he is a Wyoming cowboy, which I usually laugh at. The only true cowboys are from Texas. Avery has Wyoming in her blood but she is a born Texan, wherever we live, she will always be a Texan!

Oprah
I like to watch Oprah! I know there are a lot of people out there that think Oprah is the devil. I don't always agree with her shows, but I do like to watch her every now and then. No TiVo or buying of the 20year anniversary DVD of her either, just to enjoy some of peoples life experiences. But today, I really enjoyed her show. It was on mothers around the world. I teared up watching it (remember I did just have a baby so my hormones are still imbalanced). As I was watching the different women in different countries, I became very overwhelmed with how strong women all over the world are. When it comes to raising children, (most) women will do whatever it takes to raise them. Some women were working 6 days a week and earning 1600 dollars a year! A year! , some women were climbing up mountains with loads and loads of goods for 40cents and taking care of 10 kids, not only were they her kids but her 2 brothers kids as well. The over all message that I learned is that no matter how much you make, what language you speak, or where you live, each of these women love their children with all their hearts. They would die for them in order to protect them and break their backs to make a better life for them. One lady is taking care of 40 kids that were orphaned by parents with AIDs, some of the children have AIDs, but one lady is taking care of them and teaching them how to grow up to be respectful, contributing members of society. What a woman! Love, it is the universal language.

Sisters...
I have decided to enter the blogging world. I get a big kick out of reading my sister Morgan's blogs. It makes me smile to see what is going on in her world that day or week..to see her grocery lists, cooking experiences, learning the difference between the sun and the moon (I am not too sure she really knows or is just saying she does) and her pregnancy woos.
It is hard for me to have my baby sister miles and miles and miles away, reading about her life makes it seem like she is a lot closer. It is crazy to see her growing up, from my baby sister, to a rebellious jail loving teen, a young women, to a wife and now to a soon- to- be mother. Oh how fast time goes by!!
Growing up with two sisters and me being the oldest was always interesting. There were always fights about clothes being borrowed (mainly between Kat and Morg), arguments over the car and etc. Katie and Morgan most of the time got along, I on the other hand had an attitude about everything at that age and was very difficult to get along with. I remember my mother always telling me..."Be nice to your sisters, they will become your best friends." I can honestly say today that my sisters are my best friends. I look forward to talking to them and seeing them. It was exciting to go through my pregnancy with Katie, with her being pregnant at the same time. We talked daily if not more. Bob couldn't understand why we needed to talk to each other all the time. You can't explain it, but it is the sisterly bond we have with each other. I enjoy talking to my sisters, I feel now that I can share anything with them, my deepest darkest fears, secrets, concerns and tears. It is now even more exciting to be mothers along with Kat and sharing our child's new developments and can't wait for morg to join the "club". I don't know what I would do without my sisters, I look up to them. They each have turned into such beautiful young ladies that stand for such greatness and are examples to me. I hope they are proud to call me their sister bc I am so lucky to have great sisters.
Motherhood- how rewarding! I am not SUPERmom, far far from it. I just want Av to look at me and think that I am SUPER. I was giving Av a bath tonight doing her nightly routine and watching her splash around in the tub looking up at her momma with those big wide-eyed eyes, she melts my heart! She looks up to us for every need she has in this world. The Lord sure does think highly of Brian and I...hehe...to have blessed us with such a smart and beautiful little girl. I only want to do right by her. It is hard to describe the love you have for something that has been in your life for just a short time, it overwhelms me at times. I was telling Brian tonight that if all we do in our lives is live paycheck to paycheck living in a small apt penniless and have what we do...our little family, then I would still be the most blessed woman in the world. It is amazing to watch the most perfect baby in the world experience the world around her...Watching it through her eyes! I live for every smile, every giggle and every snuggle! If I never do anything else in my life right...I hope I do "motherhood" right! I hope I make Avery proud to be her mommy!
