* Avery is LOVING her new preschool. Before we moved here, I had called around looking for a preschool for Avery. The one preschool that everyone from our insurance agent to the grocery store clerk told me that she had to go to Judy's preschool. That teachers can tell a difference in the kids that go to Judy's and the ones that don't. Well, of course, her preschool was full! I picked another preschool that I thought would work, but was disappointed quickly. In a month she had 3 different teachers, and when I say teachers, I use that word loosely. It was stressing me out to the point I felt I would just keep her home, but didn't really know what to do. At the beginning of Dec. I got the call that there was an opening at Judy's and I jumped at it! She is doing so well. She has passed off her 4th reader book and is doing so great with her reading. So proud of her! The other day she told me about what Groundhog Day is and about Martin Luther King! I am so excited for her that she gets to experience such a fun environment and learning so much.
* It snowed a lot!
* Delaney is officially potty trained! Awesome news, no more kids in diapers. I was worried about her because Avery potty trainer herself at an early age and Delaney just wasn't interested, but one day it just clicked! She looks so cute in her little twinklebell underwear! Way to go D!
* It was -20 degrees last week and that isn't with the wind chill!
* We adopted 2 dogs! I know, what were we thinking. But, it is a perfect fit and the girls love them. A dear friend of mine is moving to DC and they will be getting a service dog to help with their son's seizure disorder and they just couldn't have 3 dogs! Leilani, is a beautiful Weimaraner, and Lily, is a mini Schnauzer. They are about 5 years old and great with the girls and are adjusting well to living in the country. I will post pics of our new family members soon.
* Delaney got moved to a toddler bed. I know it is about time, but I wanted to wait as long as possible before moving her over. It has been nice to just put her in her crib and she would sleep great! Well, she learned to crawl out of her crib! Avery never did that! So, we went ahead and changed her crib over and now it is a battle. That is why I loved her jail, I mean crib. She gets up over and over again with an excuse to not stay in bed. She has been crawling into our bed at 3 in the morning with all of her toys and blankets. We are hoping this transition doesn't last too long!
* Did I mention, it snowed? It did, again.
* I am never buying presents that have little accessories, again! Delaney wants Tinkerbell's clothes changed 15 times a day! I am tired of picking up Tinkerbell's itty bitty shoes, or a tiny banana. A friend of mine called those items, vacuum food! Love it!
* I had a mommy moment the other morning. I dropped Avery off at preschool and stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few things to make funeral potatoes for a funeral later that morning. I got home and opened the trunk and had my keys and my wallet in my hands, but realized I needed to get Delaney out of her car seat and get the groceries, so I threw my keys and wallet back into the passenger seat and shut the door. Well, I guess either my wallet dropped on the lock button of the remote key or I hit lock when I was pushing the trunk button on the remote, but either way...I locked all the doors. With Delaney in the car. In her car seat. In my garage! I was "passionately" telling Delaney to try to unlock her car seat buckles and unlock the door. But of course, she just isn't strong enough. I didn't know what I was going to do. I couldn't push the seats down through the trunk because of the car seats in the back seat. Brian was at work, an hour away, but there wasn't much he could of done anyway. Why, you ask? Brian lost his key a long time ago and just has put it off. To get a key replaced with the microchip is not cheap. I called Brian at work and he of course wants to know what I want him to do about it...uhhh, get your daughter out of the car! I ended up calling a sister in our ward to tell her my problem and that I wouldn't be getting the funeral potatoes to the church most likely. She ends up calling me back 2 seconds later, "Did you just say you locked your daughter in the car?" Yep, that is exactly what I said. She reminded me that if I called 911 that they would come out and help. I call 911 and the dispatcher asks where my car is and when I told her my garage, she just laughed. I know, not my brightest moment. There was quite the discussion because we live less than a mile from the county line; that they would have to send someone from Montpelier, which is 34 miles away. (Which I was also told I couldn't get a library card because I live in a different county and it is a city library..which is another story for another time). Luckily, a sheriff was there in the dispatch and was willing to come and help me. He showed up about 25 mins later and within 10 mins had my car open and Delaney out of the car. Lucky for me, I bought her a sucker (that she had already opened) at the grocery store and that entertained her for almost the whole time, until she dropped it on the floor and her world ended! She was in the car for about an hour and 20 mins total! So grateful for the sheriff! I did have to fill out paperwork, so I am now wondering if I am only allowed to call them once a year or something:) But, I did get the funeral potatoes to the church on time! ha!
The next day we went to the Ford dealership and got a new key, a new key remote and the key pad code reprogrammed (as we never knew what it was) for a whopping 145 dollars!
