Monday morning I was looking at hour hospital claim from Avery's hospitalization and come to find out the pediatrician that saw here while she was admitted is not covered under our insurance plan EVEN though OUR pediatrician is. SO what does that mean, 480 bucks! THAT is just for the doctor, we haven't even seen the hospital bill yet. I called our insurance plan and spoke with a really helpful person who informed me that once they got our hospital claim that IT should be looked at and be taken into consideration, BUT to call and make sure when we got the bill! I called Brian FREAKING out bc here we are just now being able to put money IN savings instead of taking OUT money and it is going to be GONE in a blink of an eye! Brian calmed me down and informed me that is why we have insurance and blah blah blah. We ended the phone conversation and I felt better that everything would work out.
Speed forward to around 3 pm and Avery and I were lying down taking a much needed nap in our bedroom (she didn't go to sleep til after 10pm and woke up at 130 am and then went back to bed at 230 and was up at 7am, just to justify the nap:) when I heard someone banging on our front door. I ignored it for a minute thinking, no one knows where we live and I wasn't expecting anyone so it must be a neighborhood kid selling something. The banging continued so I got up (hadn't brushed my teeth or showered yet, still in my pajamas) and answered the door. It was my husbands co workers wife and daughter who live in the same complex as us and she told me in broken English that her husband wanted to talk to me, so she handed me her cell phone and Louis told me that Brian had a medical emergency and that the ambulance was taking him to the ER and that they needed his medical info and that he wasn't responsive. WOW! I hang up and his sweet wife says, I watch baby and take care of house, whatever you need me to do, I do! So I packed up Avery who had NO idea what was going on, she was still half asleep, and sent her to her apt across the way. I THEN starting panicking! I didn't know what to do first. I hurried and got dressed and grabbed my stuff and left for the hospital across town. I then noticed the voice mails on my phone that I had put on vibrate earlier and listened to them. One was from Brian's bro, that use to work for the same company, who left a message to call him. I called him back and he said that Brian most likely had a seizure and that he was turning blue but was breathing fine now but was not responsive and the emt's were working on him. In my mind I hear, working on him, and I start thinking CPR! I couldn't get to the ER fast enough and kept telling myself that I would kill him if he left Avery and I and especially if he left us in LAREDO!!! (Side note: Brian has a history of seizures, has not had one in over 3 years and ran out of his meds a couple of weeks ago and thought that he would be ok until he got in to see a doc in town! )
I get to the ER, Brian is in the room, really out of it, but awake and alert, breathing on his own! I calmed down just being able to see, touch and give him a kiss! We stayed there for 5 hours until they gave him a med and sent him home. They had us pay our 500 dollar deductible before we left! I was sooo mad! While we were there, there was a roll over with illegals that were coming in...I bet they didn't have them pay 500 dollars before they left. That is what our 500 dollars paid for! I was fuming! But I would of paid anything to have Brian safe and healthy and being able to come home! I couldn't sleep that night, with every movement was me waking him up and asking if he was "OK". so needless to say, I didn't sleep at all!
Brian felt like a train hit him and embarrassed that he had a sz at work. We went to the doctor yesterday, got him back on meds and he is doing alot better. The branch here has been very supportive. I just have to laugh because when It rains it pours! I told Brian at least our deductible has been met for the YEAR! hehe...I am just thankful that I have a healthy daughter now and we now know that Brian needs to stay on his meds regardless how good he feels or how long its been since he last had one. I am blessed.
